Coronavirus: AVMT Buses Return UPDATED

AVMT’s 885 bus that stops in Musbury will resume service on Monday 15th June and will be running to a full timetable (except schoolday-only journeys – see below). Their full statement reads:

“I am pleased to announce that Axe Valley Mini Travel will be resuming its bus services from Monday 15th June 2020. I am also pleased to say the 885, 899 and 52 services will all operate on a FULL service timetable from this date. Our bus service timetable will be the same as pre Covid-19 lockdown in March. Please note however it is likely bus services that are advertised as school days only will not be operating until the full opening of secondary schools in September, therefore be careful not to plan your travel on these routes.

Due to current Covid-19 social distancing measures, please be aware there will be restrictions on seating capacity on our buses and may I ask all passengers to obey social distancing rules on the bus during your journey, at bus stops, and when boarding and leaving the bus. Also, would all passengers please use contactless payments rather than cash wherever possible.

May I take this opportunity to thank all of you for your patience in awaiting our return. I know our team of drivers are looking forward to getting back on the road and seeing all our loyal customers once again.”

UPDATE 13 June:

“Our workshop staff have had a busy week getting our buses ready for our start on Monday. They have fitted specially made protective screens to our single deck buses as a shield between driver and passenger. On this picture you will also see at the base of the left screen support a dispenser holder. We will be placing a hand gel sanitizer dispenser in these positions on our buses for passenger use. The second image shows seating not in use and hopefully gives you an idea as to how we have adapted social distancing on our buses.

From Monday, please remember:-

  • Face masks. This is now a legal requirement for all passengers on public transport. You do not have to purchase medical masks. Use a scarf or perhaps an old t-shirt. You will not be allowed to board the bus without a face covering on.
  • When boarding, please wait outside the bus until the passenger in front completes their transaction with the driver and moves away.
  • Please pay by card rather than use cash.
  • Allow passengers to leave the bus first before you board.
  • Only 1 passenger to a double seat (2 if you are both from the same household). Single passengers please use the window seat to keep a safe distance from others.
  • There is no standing room available.

Finally, please remember, due to seating restrictions our buses can only use 25%-30% of their seating capacity. There will be situations when a driver needs to refuse travel. I am aware this will be highly frustrating, however, please understand this is risk and a situation you will have to accept.

All the best everyone and see you Monday!”
