Seaton Road, Musbury, EX13 8AJ.
The first Musbury Village Hall was built in 1929 at a total cost of about £650. It was named “Drake’s Hall” in acknowledgment of the financial help given by members of that family, and that it may serve as a symbol of the bond that links Musbury with the Drakes of Ashe who lived in Musbury from very early times until the end of the 18th century. It stood for over 50 years, being replaced by the current Hall in 1984.
The Hall offers two venues – a large main hall with a stage, new kitchen and bar area, which can accomodate up to 220 people (standing) and 120 (seated), and a committee room downstairs, which is generally used for meetings, and can seat approximately 30 people comfortably. There is also a private car park.
We have a current entertainments licence, allowing dances, discos, parties and stage performances to be hosted. Although we do not have a permanent licensed bar, this can easily be arranged on a per-event basis.
The Hall is the focal point for most of the clubs and societies in the village, which include a range of indoor sports and activities (badminton, short mat bowls, table tennis, short tennis, keep fit, pilates and zumba) as well as a meeting place for the Women’s Institute, Church coffee mornings and the Parish Council.
