Community Playing Field

The Community Playing Field, administered by the Parish Council, is located at the top end of the village, on the corner of Doatshayne Lane and Doatshayne Close, next to the allotments – see map. Entry is via a gate in Doatshayne Close. It comprises a football pitch, swings, a slide and a climbing frame, plus a small picnic area.

Work on new safety surfaces around the climb wall, slide and swing areas has been completed (14 Sept 23).

In 2023 a small group of local residents have come together to take a regeneration/refurbishment project forward working alongside the Parish Council – so if you haven’t been to the community field lately please take a stroll and have a look, you’ll see the difference! We have refurbished all of the existing equipment and the wooden balance trail is being replaced at the end of March together with a new gate post and noticeboard. The next stage in the project is to add a nest swing and toddler rocker (see below). Fundraising has already started for these two items and we are halfway towards our target. We would like to thank all those who have contributed to date.

Can You Help?

As the project continues we are looking for more help and support to improve this wonderful space for the benefit of all. We still need volunteers to help with maintenance and practical tasks from time to time but if this is not your thing, don’t worry we also need enthusiastic people with other skills to enable this project to succeed. Have you experience at fundraising? Or is social media your thing? If so, we would love to hear from you.

Please contact Annie Stark (07412 571466) or Jo Boyce (Parish Council Clerk).
